Buying a Graphics Card in Canada: What to Pay (October 2026)

GPU prices in Canada are well above MSRP right now. The way to not overpay is to know the fair price for the card before you shop, and to wait when the street price is above it. The fair prices below come from launch MSRPs converted at about 1.40 CAD per USD. They are the same targets used on every card page on this site.

Rules that work in this market

Buy at or under the fair price. Above it, the extra money is shortage pricing, not performance. In October 2026 most cards sit above their fair price, which is why waiting is the default advice on this site.

Step down a tier before you overpay. If the card you want is sold out or listed at double its fair price, the tier below at a sane price is the better buy.

Check the in-store price before ordering online. At Canada Computers, one card was $380 cheaper on the shelf than online on the same day. Details: the in-store price gap.

Last-generation cards are a used-market question now. The RTX 4070 Super and RX 7800 XT are discontinued in Canada with no new stock. Judge a used price against the current generation, not the old launch price.

Buying from the US rarely wins. Exchange, shipping, tax at the border, and warranty limits eat the difference. The full math is in GPU Prices in Canada vs the US.
